Our new Slack integration allows you to send MechanicDesk notifications directly to your Slack channels, ensuring your team never misses an important update.
This guide covers how to connect your Slack workspace and configure your notification preferences.
Prerequisites
You must be using the New User Interface (UI) in MechanicDesk to access these settings.
You need administrative access to your Slack workspace to authorize the integration.
Step 1: Enable the Slack Integration
Log in to MechanicDesk and switch to the New UI.
Navigate to Settings in the main menu.
Click on the Integrations tab.
Select the Communications section.
Click the Add to Slack button.
You will be redirected to a Slack login page. Enter your workspace details, log in, and authorize the connection.
Once confirmed, your Slack account will be successfully connected to MechanicDesk.
Step 2: Map Your Employees
To ensure notifications reach the right people, you can link your MechanicDesk staff members to their corresponding Slack user profiles.
In the Slack integration settings (where you just connected the account), look for the User Mapping section.
Select a MechanicDesk employee and match them with their Slack username.
Repeat this for all staff members who need to receive direct alerts.
Step 3: Configure Notification Channels
You can control exactly which MechanicDesk notifications are sent to Slack and which specific channel they appear in.
Go to Workshop Details > Notifications.
You will see a list of available system notifications. Click on the specific notification type you want to configure (e.g., Booking Requests, Job Completed, etc.).
In the delivery method options, select Slack.
Choose the specific Slack Channel where you want these alerts to be posted.
Save your changes.
Repeat these steps for any other notification types you wish to send to Slack.
