Overview
MechanicDesk provides a secure data export feature that allows workshops to extract data for backup, reporting, or migration purposes. Export requests are processed asynchronously and completed files are made available within the system for a limited time.
Accessing the Data Export Tool
Log in to MechanicDesk.
Navigate to Settings from the main navigation.
Select Data Export/Import.
Confirm the Export tab is active.
Available Data Categories
Exports can be run for all data or for individual categories. The list below reflects the fixed order used within the platform.
All
Suppliers
Customers
Vehicles
Inventory
Job Types
Jobs
Timesheets
Quotes
Invoices
Bills
Purchase Orders
Emails
SMS
Selecting All includes every category listed.
Export Processing and Completion
Once an export request is submitted, it runs in the background without interrupting normal system usage. When processing is complete, an automated email notification is sent to the workshop email address.
The notification reads:
“Export request ID #* has been processed. The data will be available to download for 30 days. It can be downloaded in-system from Settings >> Data Export/Import.”**
Download Availability
Completed export files can be downloaded directly from Settings → Data Export/Import > Current Export Request. Each export remains available in-system for 30 days, after which it is automatically removed.
