Overview
MechanicDesk provides automated booking confirmations and reminders to help reduce no-shows and keep your customers informed. This article explains how they work and the rules governing when reminders are sent or resent.
1. Booking Confirmations
Sent immediately when a booking is created or updated.
Only applies to future-dated bookings.
Ensures customers always receive a confirmation as soon as their booking is recorded.
2. Booking Reminders
Reminders are scheduled to send at 2 PM local time on the days you specify.
Resending reminders depends on the booking date and the number of reminders you have set.
Resending Rules
A reminder will only resend if the booking date is changed.
Single Reminder
Treated as an “at or after” setting.
Example:
Reminder is set for 7 days before the booking.
If the reminder has already been sent, and the booking date changes to 5 days away, another reminder will be sent on the next scheduled 2 PM reminder cycle.
Two Reminders
Larger number (earlier reminder): triggers exactly that many days before the booking.
Smaller number (later reminder): follows the single reminder logic (resends if the booking date changes and it hasn’t already been sent for the new date).
Summary
Confirmations: sent immediately for future bookings.
Reminders: sent at 2 PM local time, may resend only if booking date changes, and behave differently depending on whether one or two reminders are configured.
